Black and Gold…Read all about it

Gold. What comes to mind when I think about gold…Money, Royalty, Sophistication, Power, Wealth. As growing up I never liked the metal yellow gold, now that I am an adult I love the metal yellow gold. Gold is used in modern day technology, fashion, jewelry and Interior Design. One of the hottest trends in todays Interior Design world is Gold and Black. One of the most sophisticated glam essence of Interior Design. Mostly Black and Gold Interiors were of the Art Deco era. Think Great Gatsby. Lavish black tie parties just screaming sophistication. In todays world we can see Black and Gold Interiors. (all Images Google) I have shown some of my favorite Black and Gold Items ranging from Fashion, to Interior Design.

Velvet…not red velvet cupcakes even though cupcakes are amazing! I am talking about velvet fabric. One of the most riches types of fabrics out there. Traditionally, velvet is associated with nobility, but in today’s world velvet it used for upholstery, fashion, shoes. There are many types of velvet…Silk velvet the most soft and shine type, cotton velvet…more matted but still soft. There are so many ways to use velvet. Gingham Style

Gingham Style

Gingham style has no right or wrong side with respect of its color.

When you think of Gingham what pops into my mind, a warm summer day laying outside with a picnic basket with some very close friends laughing and drinking lemonade.

As an Interior Designer, gingham means French country style that is not entirely true. You can mix and match gingham fabrics with other styles. Having the small checks usually black and white, but hot off the New York Fashion week gingham checks are in all different colors. (all images are from google)

For Interiors like I have stated before you can use gingham fabrics in different styles  of homes in different places.

My dream home…Hacienda

My dream home…Hacienda

Since living in California, you have so much Spanish influence. Culture, language and home styles. One of my favorite styles of homes are Haciendas.

Hacienda-  Spanish word for estate .

Here is a little history of how Spanish has influenced our state:  (California) It was then claimed by the Spanish Empire as part of Alta California in the larger territory of New Spain. Alta California became a part of Mexico in 1821 following its successful war for independence, but would later be ceded to the United States in 1848 after the Mexican–American War. (

Haciendas are a lifestyle, you can have clean interiors such as : (pinterest image from my dream house board)

Or you can have interiors such as this: (pinterest image my dream house board)

Different furniture styles can make a home look more like a hacienda, even the lighting too. You can have a ranch style home but have the interiors to feel more like a Spanish style.

Through my travels in Southern California driving down West Hollywood and even parts of Hollywood and Downtown you do see Haciendas. In my neighborhood here in Northern California in the peninsula there is a lot more Haciendas and Spanish style homes.
