Dinner is served!

So far in my 30’s I have hosted maybe 4-5 dinner parties. Dinner are one of my favorite things to host, gathering my friends around the table. Now that is something I have grown up with…table…food…friends, family and stories. Also something that Italians love…Food, wine, and family (friends are considered family). Growing up my parents would always throw dinner parties for their friends putting out their best china or sometime causal. I remember when I was a kid I wanted to throw parties just like my parents. Now that I am older I have taken their tradition of dinner parties and adding my own funky twist to it.

The last dinner party that I hosted was about a month ago, gathered my closest friends and of course we made pizza, with wine and a bunch of laughter. This is how I decided to set the table.

Now that the weather is starting to get nicer, people actually want to be outdoors, days are longer, sunny days with some hot summer nights(if you live outside of the city) I thought what better way to blog about how to dress your table and yourself for a dinner party. See some of my favorite photos of dressing your table ( all images are from pinterest)

Most of the time you learn how to set a dinner table properly by your grandmother or your parents, but this day and age we tend to forget the traditions. Seems like everyone is in a hurry to go somewhere . In case someone has not taught you how to set a table don’t worry pinterest is here to save the day.

Now what would a hostess proper attire would be. I think dressing up yourself is a lot more rewarding than dressing your table. Don’t get me wrong both are fun, but showing off your outfit is a lot more fun. One of my favorite dress that I wore to a wedding but heck why not wear it to my elegant, sophisticated dinner party.

flowers, floral galore

Is that time of year again…spring yes, but also my favorite type of music festival here in California…Coachella!!! Its not just about the music that is the huge part of it, but what the fashion is…floral. I have notice in the fashion magazines and also in stores everything is over sized floral! Throughout history fashion and interiors floral were named Jacobean type, small scale so that you can fit so many floral woven and prints into a single yard for a chair or a dress. In today’s fashion it is still called Jacobean prints or woven but now they are oversize. (all images are from google image)

In today’s interior design world, i have seen more bright colors, also more floral type of fabrics and wallpapers as well. (all images are from google image)

This is not your typical grandmothers, or shabby chic floral but more with a 2016 twist. You can dress up your room with some bold oversize floral patterns!

lions..tigers..animal prints!

Animal prints, animal skins have been around for a lifetime. Back in the Roman days when the winter was cold and the Gladiators would fight wars in winter they would always have fur animals around them to keep them warm and food in their bellies. In this day and age we have PETA, do not get me wrong I am all for stopping animal cruelty and the mis treatment toward animals. That is why I like animal prints and faux leather printed animal skins. This does not hurt any animals and since it will be coving your ottoman, sofa or chair, it is kid and human friendly. Above in the animal print mixture of fabrics that are from Kravet, these are either woven or printed they are not real animal skins. All of these fabrics would be great pillows, ottomas, chairs and even bar stools. I was never a fan of animal prints but they are starting to grow on me. Now in Fashion, major fashion such as one of my favorite fashion houses, Roberto Cavalli.  the most use of animal prints to show off the sexy side of fashion. ( all images from google image)

Its spring time for the stripes to shine

As the days are getting long and the nights are warm we are preparing for summer. Well maybe not here in the USA where we have having still snow and rain, which in California we desperately need…Water! But enough of what we do need it is what we want…Stripes! I do believe that stripes on dresses, shirts shoes makes me think of my European Summers. Even Interiors can have stripes, the most famous stripe in Interior Design and signature style of Ralph Lauren. It always reminds me of warm summer nights.

What is a stripe?

a. A long narrow band distinguished, as by color or texture, from the surrounding material or surface.

b. A textile pattern of parallel bands or lines on a contrasting background.
c. A fabric having such a pattern.
I am a huge fan of stripes in my fashion closet I do have several pieces of stripe shirts and even a stripe dress. Also, in Interior Design stripes are very popular, in pillows, sofas, dining chairs and even wallpaper. Since the weather is getting “warmer” it is time to dust off your stripes and wear them or design your house with them. A few images that have inspired me to either design or wear stripes ( images are from pinterest and google)
