Under $5,000 Beach Room Getaway

shoreline

Half Moon Bay, California

Summer is around the corner, and summer is my favorite season of all. Longer days, BBQ with friends, warm beach days in the California sun. I normally blog how fashion meets interiors, but this time around I decided to just blog about Interior Design. I decided to turn your bed room into a beach room getaway on a budget, that’s right on a budget…under $5000.00.

What’s hot now

I decided to do something a little different with this entry. I have also updated my blog site as well. I added a couple of pages…Design Advice- you can now email me with any questions you have about fashion or design and I also added Faves, this page will give you insight to my favorite things.

I wanted to incorporate must haves for different styles of fashion. I love Hollywood glam, and Boho chic. What I thought would be a good third style is 70’s. I just love the color that the 70’s bring.

flowers, floral galore

a5d5a8572aea51885967c0d9b8a87d91

Is that time of year again…spring yes, but also my favorite type of music festival here in California…Coachella!!! Its not just about the music that is the huge part of it, but what the fashion is…floral. I have notice in the fashion magazines and also in stores everything is over sized floral! Throughout history fashion and interiors floral were named Jacobean type, small scale so that you can fit so many floral woven and prints into a single yard for a chair or a dress. In today’s fashion it is still called Jacobean prints or woven but now they are oversize. (all images are from google image)

In today’s interior design world, i have seen more bright colors, also more floral type of fabrics and wallpapers as well. (all images are from google image)

This is not your typical grandmothers, or shabby chic floral but more with a 2016 twist. You can dress up your room with some bold oversize floral patterns!

Orange…is it the new black for Spring?!

dae385e7ba44ea9a1f2e00cf45ae0c79

Bouncing into spring 2016 I have noticed that new color for spring is Orange! What comes to mind for the color orange…an orange of course but also as everyone would know Hermes! (google image)

More importantly orange has a whole psychology behind the actually color, when I think of orange I think of warm sunny days. I found this list of orange describing words. (google image)

Now that we have some describing words, the meaning behind the color orange here are some fun interiors and fashion that I think will be popping up this spring. (all images from google images)

My Style…Calfornia Fresh

Gray-Living-Room.-Gray-Living-Room-with-white-sofas.-Gray-Living-Room-with-white-accents.-Lighting-is-the-Restoration-Hardware-Two-Tier-R

My style.. honestly my style is a little of this and little of that.

Having dinner last night with a friend, they described me as fresh. I am just me! Back in my high school days I always wore what was on trend, which did not make me an individual. When I was a kid, I wore what I want. Looking at old 80’s and 90’s photos thinking to myself woah, I did march to my own beat of my drum.  Now that I am older and wiser, I dress what I am most comfortable in, what makes me feel good, what I know I can rock it. Even if it way out there I always try to rock it.

My style has changed throughout the years…high school…surfer type, zip up hoodies, Roxy and flip flops. In college, when I first started FIDM it was trendy to fit in the LA lifestyle, but the end I wore what was most comfortable to me, if that meant flip flops everyday even in the rain, like a true California girl! Now that I am in the working world, I try to mix all types of fashion, surfer, California, trendy, all black, colors, white, sporty, it is never a dull moment in my style. Now with social media I can express what type of style I do go for. Thanks to Pinterest ! you can check out my style board to get a better sense.

What is your style?

What is a wall without wallpaper

Wallpaper…something that reminds you of your grandparents house. Growing up in an Italian household, every wall was wallpapered. In the late 1990s early 2000’s wallpaper was outdated, hardly anyone wallpapered a wall. In todays Interior Design market 1 wall has some kind of oversized modern wallpaper.

A little history of wallpaper from http://www.history-magazine.com/wallpaper.html not too many people know about this.

“Wallpaper began as a cheap substitute for tapestry and paneling. Some historians believe that the use of wallpaper dates back to the 1400s. The first wallpapers were decorations for wood panels, introduced into England by Flemish craftsmen. The papers were small squares with images printed by wood blocks, which were then colored in by hand. As the desire increased to find a less expensive alternative to the wall-hangings of the rich, printers produced simple yet decorative paper panels.

In the 1500s, the wealthy continued to cover their walls but now they did so with brocades, velvets and even embossed leather. The earliest known wallpaper in England dates back to 1509 – an Italian-inspired woodcut pomegranate design printed on the back of a proclamation issued by Henry VIII. Discovered in 1911 at Christ’s College in Cambridge, the paper is attributed to Hugo Goes, a York printer. In general, wallpaper of this period depicted floral designs and murals. Wallpaper’s popularity increased in Elizabethan England. Throughout Europe, a fascination began with these fine papers that offered protection against dampness and an improved ability to handle fireplace smoke.

But wallpaper wasn’t purely a Western invention. The Chinese began to produce it in the early 1600s, showered with painted birds, flowers and landscapes on rice paper formed in rectangular sheets.”

In 2010 and moving forward into the future wallpaper is the new trend either all 4 walls, 1 wall or even better the ceiling. The ceiling is the 5th wall. Some Images of wallpaper and how it is applied. I have attached some images of wallpaper ideas and a couple of my favorite wallpapers all Images are sourced from Google images

There are so many styles…Italian, French, Art Deco, Quaker, Shakers, Craftsman. It does not matter what style of design you trying to achieve a chair can make the room look amazing.
